The JMicron IDE has a CD/DVD drive on my Abit board and works OK so,
as you say, one does wonder what they mean.

On my Abit the *Intel* interface BIOS pops up a message saying that
the AHCI mode works only for disk drives and not for CD drives, maybe
there's something like that in the mix somewhere.

Maybe it wanted *two* devices on the Intel interface first so it was
'full'.   Clutching at straws though!  :-)
