I've got a 1 Gig SanDisk, a 1 Gig and a 2 Gig Peak, and a 2 Gig Kingston
DT Mini (which last I keep losing, despite hooking it to a safety-pin
and pinning it inside pockets, etc.. Indeed, recently I lost it for
weeks, and only found it as I was hanging out some washing...)

All work OK AFAIAC, even in the last instance, after going through the
wash. HOWEVER - I'm probably not a good judge about speed as my main box
runs only at 900 MHz

I intend formatting the Kingston to LFS and using it on the Eee.
However, until I get another one, I won't be able to compare it with
anything.

Do you mean hard disk drives, or solid state?
