I'd recommend a Western Digital myBook 
(http://www.ebuyer.com/product/137325), it connects over Ethernet, but I 
think some have USB ports too. A friend of mine got one a while back and 
a bit of knowledge means you can hack it and install all kinds of 
goodies on the linux-based firmware..
