Upon which, I located "flashplayer" in synaptic (Debian Etch, me),
marked it for installation, and went ahead. It removed my previous
flashplayer plugin, and installed flashplayer-mozilla (1:9.0.152.0-0.0).
I restarted Iceweasel, and, duly, it now works.
