Ah, another clue (or not), connecting to www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk from another computer on the LAN here works OK while the connections from my desktop are still hanging. Connecting from a different browser on my desktop computer doesn't work though.
Any suggestions for further diagnosis?
Further, IE in a VirtualBox on my desktop machine times out on www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk too.
So it's either something wrong in my desktop machine and/or in the way it interacts with the router. Another machine on the same subnet can access www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk, both machines are plugged into ports on the same switch which is in turn connected to the router - so they're both effectively connected to the same port on the router.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! (I think)
Restarting dnsmasq has unhung the connections to www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk, have I found a bug in dnsmasq or have I misconfigured it?
I'll go and ask on the dnsmasq list. It's odd though as the other machine on the LAN uses dnsmasq on my machine.
