It's a damn cool idea though - I love the ports tree system, if only keeping it up to date was a bit less hacky. Time for some perl magic and the freshmeat DB?
It might be a better idea to either extend fmports to use configure more intelligently or build something that only lists autoconf'd packages?
fmports was your attempt, right? Does freshmeat actually list whether the package is autoconfiscated? Also, have a look at wsanchez' latest diary entry on advogato - the Open Ports project looks kinda interesting, if it could be judoed onto linux as well... -Thom
