Well - as I understand it (which isn't perfectly), there's some sort of emulation going on between SCSI and the USB memory device in the camera, so that the images stored in the camera APPEAR to be files on a SCSI device. The SCSI device doesn't really exist of course, but looks as though it does, so that you can read these 'files' (camera images) via it.
As I said - my understanding isn't perfect, or even adequate....
