On the windows PC I always ran an X server which displayed my Solaris CDE desktop but now I can run a proper 'unix like' system directly on my work machine (like I used to in the more distant past when we all had Sun workstations).
*grin* - so I shouldn't mention that at work all of the workstations are NFS root PXE boot debian stable (with some backports) then, and that I've not had a windows desktop as a work machine since, err, 2001 I think - and that lasted all of 3 months before it got "magically" replaced by something that I found laying around that I threw Debian at...

I was running a Linux desktop at work back in 1998, and rather nicely administering a Windows NT domain from it thanks to VNC. I went purely Linux (i.e. didn't have a second little used Windows box) in 2000 when I moved jobs and have been that way ever since :) Although I have to confess that now I have my own business I do have a test Windows box since I have to support it - it was broken a year or so ago, I reinstalled last month and it still isn't running smoothly. It's a low priority though ;)
