I tried pressing it and it did nothing. If you hold it for about 5 seconds it does turn it off.

Hi My ThinkPad R31 is running Ubuntu 10.10 very well. Everything seems to work except resuming from sleep. When I open the lid it doesnt wake. What ever key I press I cannot get it to wake. Any ideas on how to fix it.
Press the power button?
Tim.
I was about to suggest the same! I would add: press it *briefly*. Details may depend on what machine you're using, but generally when it is in "sleep" if you press it firmly down and then release it almost immediately it should wake up.
On the other hand, if you press it and hold it down for a few seconds this will probably turn the machine off altogether.
Ted.
