Has anyone got Xine working on their system yet?
Yes, I've been using it since about 0.3.5.
It's being a bit of a pig. I have installed pretty much all the plugins (incl. the decss one and another for 'encrypted' DVDs)except one, which was not meant to be essential - dx3r I think it was called.
I have ln -s /dev/cdrom /dev/dvd mount /mnt/cdrom /mnt/dvd
Xine recognises that there is a DVD drive there, it recognises the .VBO files, but I get no output.
You don't actually need to load individual VOBs, just scan the DVD then hit play (afaicr).
Is it just refusing to play? or is it reading/decoding the DVD and just not displaying to the screen?
Any error messages?
Check that the XVideo extension is running properly in your X server (you need XFree86 4 for this). Type "xvinfo" and check you have something listed like 'Adaptor #0: "NV10 Video Overlay"'. If so you should run xine as "xine -V Xv". If you don't have Xv support you'll have to use the slower X Shared Memory approach, "xine -V XShm".
Anyone had any success? Anything else you can think for me to consider? I have a Geforce 2 MX card, with the appropriate drivers and kernel from nvidia.
I have a GeForce 2 MX with the Nvidia drivers.
