I concur that that would be nice, but having just glanced at Simon's headers, I'd say that it may well be out of the scope of his current mail client...
(Appears to be EPOC Mail then talking to MSN servers - RUN AWAY, RUN AWAY!)
EPOC Mail appears to not bother with anything as useful as a In-Reply-To or References header... Those would be too useful!
We each have to work with what we have perhaps..... Footnote to Simon's mails is this - (sent using Sony Ericsson P990i)
