Hi Owen
You also compiled an up to date modutils didn't you ?
Older versions have trouble finding 2.4.x modules.

The 2.2.17 kernel I felt could do with an update, so I compiled the 2.4.8 kernel using the SuSe configuration for their 2.2 kernel in their 7.0 distibution.
With this setup I performed my first successful kernel compile, ( I have tried 5 times before but it just takes to long with a P200MMX computer ) I then realised that I had to compile the modules and install them (with make) which meant that it must have taken at least 6 hours.
Anyway after all this effort I now have a dewbian system with a 2.4.8 kernal that boots but still cant find the modules, I rearly need TCP/IP so I can continue to setup the system unfortunately this is a module.
