Hello Alug
I made enquiries to the list some time ago about exporting emails from Firefox to a folder on a separate drive. I received several replies after which I downloaded an add-on and could export emails successfully.
One responder was James (don't know any other details) who said he exported regularly from Firefox; I'm wondering if he (or anyone else) could comment on how well the Folder & Subfolder Structure copies, or the method they use. I find I often have to make separate folder on the target drive, then copy the emails into this, then it works well.
Thanks
I used to export regularly from Thunderbird using an extension called ImportExport Tools. I have just tried to set it up on a machine again to find that they seem to have stopped doing this plugin. Out of their 400-500 extensions the one i found very useful they seem to have dropped recently. It was there for version 1.5 which i had on my winblows machine.
This plugin would convert an entire mailbox to separate emails in html [and other formats] which was perfect for archiving all my emails from classic car groups into different categories. I've just posted on MozillaZine and i'll see if there is any feedback. It might just be under further development.
In the thunderbird directory there are sub-directories; app, data, other. Under data/profile/Mail there will be another directory like pop.gmail.com (one for each mail account) and in there is your mail. You can copy Mail directory to cd and then access it through Thunderbird File~>Open Saved Message and select appropriate mail account. I don't know what other folk do when their mailbox gets large but that is what i found was a convenient method of backing-up and archiving mail.

Just looked at the post on Mozillazine. ImportExport tools is still available - i thought it was on Mozilla website. Just been updated today. I think it is on another website aswell but not sure where... i don't remember downloading from here. https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/mboximport-en.html
