I gave my daughter my 2016 ish XPS 13, she liked it very much (she installed ubuntu on it). Since Dell sells these optionally with a linux build it’s a pretty good choice.
My daughter used it for the BBC women-focused “Step Into Tech” training, quite possibly the only one (maybe ever) on linux. She now works for the BBC and had quite an adjustment period when they gave her a heavily used macbook pro once she joined. :-D

If you were in the market for a laptop, which make, model, size etc would it be, and why?
We (I and my wife) have been happy with various Lenovo Thinkpads, they run Linux very well.
Currently my wife has an X201 and I have a T470.
