Just checked back in the list. The file is SnapScan_1212U_2.bin Either install it as described, or try Vuescan like you did last time. However, I doubt that installing Vuescan will make Simplescan of XSane work; if you want to use them, you'll have to configure the scanner.

If you fixed it last time by installing vuescan it's likely that installing vuescan again will fix it again.
I've got one too. I don't use Vuescan with mine. I use xsane. However, I think it's a simple beast, and doesn't have an on-board ROM. You need to configure it so that your PC downloads a ROM file to the scanner as it tries to connect. I think I explained how mine works last time you went through this, but you went the vuescsan route instead. I think the file is something like agfa1212.bin or something like that. I'm not in the position to check at the moment as pushed for time & computer problems of my own. I think Vuescan will work without this ROM, SimpleScan and XSane, won't.
Good luck!

Have scanner won't scan. We've been there before but not with Simple Scan. It knows my AGFA Snap Scan is there but says it's unable to connect.
I have, in case anyone wonders, been through the lengthy thread I posted about this last time and have installed libsane-extras. Nada. I've googled and am not sure what option to go for so help gratefully received.
Bev.
