Which Distro would people recommend for ease of install and maintainance, also are there any which install the bttv driver as default?
I think SuSE has the bttv driver as a module but then most distro's will. I prefer Debian as although some people claim it is harder to install than most other distro's, but I found it to be the easiest to get things working with.
Alot of people say debian is very good, I have installed it on a sun IPX and it seamed quite good. I'm just looking for a distro I can control what it puts on the system and one which will configure all my hardware out the box, My current distro, Peanut, recognised most of my hardware straight away, I had to edit rc.modules to add the correct module for the zip drive. Unfortunatly it didn't do my TV card.
Is the GeForce 2 chipset supported under linux?
My GeForce GTS 2 is fine although I did have problems getting 3d DRI working, and have since broke it again.
What was the problem?
What are there in the way of Linux games available?
Quake III nuff said although you should look at www.lokigames.com as they have a very good selection.
Cheers, alot of people mentioned these. Soldier of fortune looks good, very tempted. Unfortunatly I just bought a new CPU, motherboard and memory,(Scan.co.uk were doing a special offer)
Can I drive the old matrox mystique with the new Geforce at the
same
time in the same PC?
If it is a PCI card then maybe yes, but I think you will have to buy an X-server that would work with this although it may work in windows. (I may be completly wrong with these comments though)
To describe my intentions in a bit more detail. I have a room that is 7'*7' My intention was to have a 17" monitor on my desk connected to the Geforce card, This I would use for most stuff like games etc... on the other side of the room I was going to put my old 15" monitor so I can use it for watching TV in bed. So I only really want the second card to work with the BTTV card as a TV.
Thanks
