Yes ... there are loads of linux word-processors that to a greater or lesser degree spit out Word-compatible files (either as .rtf or native word file format). I tend to use StarOffice, but I'm told Abiword, KWord, etc are quite good. I'd recommend downloading them all and trying them to see which you prefer.
