At work I've recently been given a Samsung SyncMaster 2494HS its got VGA, DVI and HDMI but its "only" 1920x1080 and seems to cost a bit more then the screens you've been looking at but I can't fault it.
I can't decide if its better then using two Dell 19" monitors though.
I had that problem when I switched from two aging 17"'s to a 22" (1680x1050)
The short answer is it is better for some things and worse for others :) I ended up reusing one of my 17" screens as a 2nd head, the 17's are not widescreen but the change in aspect works out better than you would think (or at least does with twinview)
I find that with a bit of height adjustment the 17" (1280x1024) pretty much lines up with the desktop between the gnome panel and taskbar on the 22" so if I disable those on the second screen it mostly looks ok. Of course when dragging an app between the two it shrinks a bit but this isn't so noticeable.
Those are both connected via DVI, but I have the VGA from the 2nd screen floating under the desk. So if I need to fire up another machine I just prod nvidia-settings in a way that flips me back to single head and I can use the 17 as a VGA display on another machine.
