Hi Jude
(My eldest Son is called Jude, btw! Still quite an uncommon name...)

I haven't tried Arch yet.
iirc I had some wireless problems in the past to do with the Centrino driver. What wireless card do you have?
The card is an:
Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000.
I still have Linux Mint 13 installed and the card connects to my wireless router without any problem, but no data flows unless I set the wireless router mode to 11g rather than the default setting of Mixed(11b+11g+11n). Obviously that's fine if I only use my wireless network at home, but most other routers appear to be setup in mixed mode too and I can't change them of course!
I'm hoping the problem with my 3G is the same problem and I can fix two birds with one stone.
