So can anybody recommend a good email app for Android phones? I want it to sync with an IMAP mailbox but don't want calendar sync.
K9 - see Steve's comments to me (and others) about a month ago.
I'll have a look at those anyway although the decision has been made. But it might help reducing the learning period.
Seconded. Been using K9 for years, and it's top.
Cheers, Laurie.
Appreciate your help. Once I find a way to send mail, I'll probably keep using that as it just works!
Isn't that thing shaped like a paper dart in the top bar?
Er, there isn't a top bar here. If I tap on the text at the top of the screen (it has a purple bar beside it), it displays the full headers of the mail and tapping it again makes them disappear. But I have 6 icons at the bottom of the screen :- Reply, Reply all, Forward and on the next row, a down arrow, a bin and an up arrow. If click on reply, it's at that point that I see a 'back' arrow, what I take to be the home icon and then there are the three dots at the right. Clicking on those dots gives me Send, Add Cc/Bcc, Add attachment, and on the next row is Save as draft, Discard and More.
Despite struggling with the inbuilt email app since I got the phone a couple of days before Christmas, and failing now to send mail, I downloaded K9, installed it, configured it (with one mistake on my part) and had it sending and receiving mails within 5 minutes of making the decision which email client to go for.
It just reinforces my point (which I've been making to the developers) that the inbuilt email app is broken.
