Sadly the problem isn't the lack of a modem but the lack of a
phone line to connect it to, it at least it is when I'm out and about.
There's two reasons I'd like to upgrade to ADSL; it makes my life easier
(speed, convenience, etc), and now based on this conversation it
increases my availability because I don't have to rely on a landline. I
think the second one is the one to use with the EU; without it my biggest reason for suggesting he pay for an upgrade was my convenience.
