With external directional antennas then yes you may be able to get it working (though not likely at anything approaching full speed)

Yes, I've already been there (I have one of their 3-G routers) and their technical information is very useful. It actually looks fairly possible as long as I have line-of-sight from the base station to the boat. Just an external aerial at the boat end might well be all that's needed.
