When I started at Uni they were just changed from user workstations into X terms hanging off Sparc ELC's. I remember using some a few years before I went to Uni though and they seemed fast at the time!! Oh how times change!!! The 3/60's have 68000 chips in AFAIK. So yeah, they do pre-date ye olde 80486 chips. Sun used to do a 386 file server at one point. We have one at work :) well a guy at work brought his in from home, I think that the 3/60 existed in the days before the 486 even?
