Some (me too!) don't like to IRC all the time, so generally connect on Monday evenings. If someone has a topic for a Monday evening, please send it to the list, or bring it along anyway.
Yes, that would be helpful (emailing of topics to the list first), there does tend to be people lurking around on a Monday evening though, and I must point out that the first time you join don't expect a reply within seconds. I have seen people join and then say "hi" and quite 10 seconds later and spent less than 20 seconds in the channel. Although, recently Mondays do appear to have been the quietest days...
(Basically, there are side-effects to being on IRC too much if you have lots of other things that you need to do.)
