So, I can grab a copy of the .cf file as a backup, but what I need to know is what to say to the Debian installation to make sure mail works exactly how it does currently under RedHat 6.0.
Last I checked, the default Debian mail transport software was exim and the configuration question script will probably need you to answer as "needing a smarthost" (also labelled as "normal for dialup users" or similar) and you to give Demon's mail server address.
FWIW, I have a number of 'users' here accepting mail, such as 'webmaster', 'gnome', etc., all getting stored in /var/spool/mail/{user}
I believe that to be the default, but I prefer to store user mail in $HOME/.inbox so that it gets backed up easier and comes out of their (generous) quota.
