Hi Richard I tried the Dapper release before this one and got no working xserver, (even with a lot of work) might be something about my onboard graphics??? Dapper i386 works fine, same as Debian i386, seem that just the 64 bit versions do not give"screens" , except Gentoo. Any ideas would be appreciated Video = NVIDIA GeForce 6100 GPU PS just noticed the board was advertised as having no agp slot- it has, might be worth putting an older Nvidia card in. The only time I can get an Xserver running other than Gentoo (in 64 bit) it comes up at 600x800 in very low resolution So why is Gentoo giving me full 1600 resolution (and i386 distros 1024x 2048)?
I' no expert on these sorts of things, but how well is the kernel frame buffer working? If you boot with vga=791 (for example) do you get a 1027x768 terminal? i.e. is it specifically an X problem?
