Can anyone recomend a linux friendly UPS for a home server. Pref not too expensive working with apcupsd. Same sort of load as a desktop pc, monitor & printer. Currently have a smartups 700 running at 13% load.
Anything from the APC SmartUPS range, TBH. I have a s/h 2200. It's a pity they fry their batteries, though.

Well, I've brought a 2ndhand refurbished APC SMT750I (i or 1?) But there's no data cable. There's a USB A socket and a phone or network style socket. Could I ask which you use? USB A to standard USB? Or is it a custom cable like their old serial ones used to be?
I appreciate you may not know the answer and/or YMMV.
Sadly, the 2200 is sufficiently old as to use a serial cable. I just use it with a USB <-> Serial adaptor and NUT (for mostly sentimental reasons, having contributed a minute amount of code to it.)
