Now I've used Samba & found it great - for servers. Clients can see the server f/s - but the server itself can't see the shares on the Windows boxes (not quite right - Samba has some command line utilities giving views onto the client).
What you need is smbmount, a standard part of samba: works a treat. We use it to backup workstations to a linux backup server.
