From: Colin Murphy <SpudULike@-blueyonder.co.uk> Subject: [Announcement] GLLUG - The Greater London Linux User Group (UK) - Meeting - 14th September Date: 12 Aug 2002 23:10:58 GMT That is right, your eyes do not deceive you, The Greater London Linux User Group is, at long last, going to have another meeting. The date for your diaries is Saturday 14th September 2002, 12noon until 5pm. Doubtless to say, there will also be a session in some pub afterwards, should you not be able to make it during the day. We will be meeting in the New Cavendish Street campus of Westminster University, this is in the shadow of the BT Tower, nearest tube stations are Great Portland Street and Goodge Street. You will find a map at [ http://www.wmin.ac.uk/static/maps.asp ] For this meeting, and all the future meetings, we have the use of the Universities 'large' lecture theatre, the network lab and the Multimedia lab. The large lecture theatre - Hopefully you will appreciate the use of this larger lecture theatre. For those that went last time, your comments and criticisms were justified about the smaller theatre being too small. We are still finalising the details of the talks, so these will be posted to the web site soon, <http://gllug.linux.co.uk>. The network lab - We will use the network lab, this month, for rolling demo installations. The multimedia room - This will be used as a chat area, away from the lectures. There are monitors, desks and power, so people are welcome to set up their own equipment here if they want. Hopefully we will have some BoaF groups form here. ******************************************** The GLLUG website, you remember - it's at http://gllug.linux.co.uk, has had a revamp. Do make sure you have a look, pass on your comments. ******************************************** The meeting after the next meet is booked for the 19th October 2002 -- Colin Murphy -SpudULike@blueyonder.co.uk --__--__-- Message: 2 To: announce@lists.alug.org.uk From: MJ Ray <markj@cloaked.freeserve.co.uk> Date: Fri, 16 Aug 2002 12:08:06 +0100 Subject: [Alug Announce] Fwd: [lugmaster] Embedded Linux Seminar (was Fwd: RE: UK Linux User Groups Contact Form) Date: Fri, 16 Aug 2002 07:52:14 +0100 From: "Mark Lewis" <mark@lug.org.uk> Subject: [lugmaster] Embedded Linux Seminar (was Fwd: RE: UK Linux User Groups Contact Form) hi all, long time no speak..... fiona has asked me to email this..... regards, mark *********** BEGIN FORWARDED MESSAGE *********** On 15/08/2002 at 14:19 fiona@feabhas.com <fiona@feabhas.com> wrote:
Hi Mark
That would be great if you could pass it on to other Linux users. Is there a problem with the email links on that site as I have had a couple of mails returned.
Seminar details
We are holding the first Embedded Linux Seminar in the UK at the Madjeski Stadium, Reading, Berks. Date: 31st October 02. At the moment we are looking for anyone who may be interested in participating either speaking, giving a paper and/or exhibiting.
The day will comprise of various presentations and papers covering memory and processor requirements; what "real-time" Linux is and is not; what "small" Linux really means combined with a tabletop exhibition of various embedded Linux environments and supporting tools. The cost of a tabletop is £250.00, inclusive of 2 personnel, (no charge for speakers). Cost for attendees is £65.00 and includes lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
We have had a good response to the call for speakers and we have on board Windriver, Hardhat, Toshiba, Microsoft, Allied Microsystems Corp, and Xilinx to name but a few with many other interested parties.
We do not have a direct UML link but if you go to our web www.feabhas.com, it is headline news.
Hope this helps.
Best regards
Fiona
