[ALUG] Uninstall problem

Somehow (and clearly it wasn't sensible) I've got Calibre on this machine but it doesn't show as installed in Synaptic so I can't remove it. What can I do? I get permission denied if I try to delete it. Thoughts? Polite ones, if poss. Own silly fault etc. Bev.
