Hi I have been trying to configure my onboard modem on my K7S5A board as I need my serial port for ham radio control. Suse 9.0, finds the modem but I have tried TTYS0 to S4 with no luck. Does anybody know what I should assign it to, or is there other things I should look at? Regards Nick Daniels
Do you know if it is a hardware modem or a Winmodem. if it is integrated into your motherboard then it is most likely a Winmodem. For drivers and test software you should try www.linmodems.org

Thanks all It is a winmodem-Suseplugger comes up with:- silicon Intel 537(winmodem) Driver Info #0: Driver Status: slamrmo is active Driver Activation Cmd: "modprobe slamrmo" But thinking : " I wish to free up my serial port " , I can
a) Put external modem on parallel port!!!
Are you sure this is possible???
b) Buy card with 2 serial ports or buy a cheap PCI non winmodem
Cheap PCI non winmodem would be my preference.
