Well, if you're after "pure sun" jdk 1.2, you're out of luck - the common apt sources for java, ie:
http://www.mirror.ac.uk/sites/ftp.blackdown.org/java-linux/debian potato non-free
...only give you jdk 1.3. If it's only a jvm you're after, you could try running it in kaffe.
Otherwise, your best bet is to grab the tar.gz binary from java.sun.com, and install it in /usr/local/ or /opt or whatever the politically-correct FHS-compliant location is this week.
