[Alug] UPS - confused

Hi All, Can anyone explain to me what the difference is between using apcd and powerd? I'm trying to set up a smart UPS 700 . Seems that you have to run them in dumb mode, so I guess I can only get the box to shut down rather than reboot? Jenny.
