definitions in the Xfree config file that can be used when you start the X server. Another useful tip I found along these lines is for running a second X session when you have CTRL-ALT-F2'd to another console. Use:
startx -- :1 (or I guess 2 if you have used F3 - not tried though!)
I've found this useful when someone is logged on and has locked their screensaver.
