I don't understand, what does this have to do with Asus not having confidence in their customers ? Plenty of modern distros default to no password being set for the root account..anything based on Ubuntu for a start but I am sure there are others. You aren't "locked out" you just haven't worked out how to use sudo You tried it and what happened ?
