I was advised on another list (NLUG?) that you can walk into Toys-R-Us and buy one for £220. Not sure what their stock levels are like now but maybe worth a try if there's a store nearby - their website seems to suggest they have stock.
Popped into Toys-R-Us in Peterborough last night and they have a few in stock. I spent a few minutes playing with the display model - nice unit, wish I could justify having one! When I looked behind me there were a couple of other people hanging around to play with it, so it looks like it could be quite popular.
The display info did mention Linux, but other than that I have to say there was no obvious sign that it was anything other than an integrated unit with its own O/S; none of the normal Linuxy stuff worked that I tried. Booted quickly, though, and OOOo calc was up in a few seconds. Failed to start Frozen Bubble, not sure why. There was no network connection so I couldn't test anything there.
Anyway, for anyone who has a need for this type of device, especially given that it is just a PC at its heart so any distro should be OK (even Windows!), it is certainly worth checking out.
