As a result consumption is rather higherthan predicted but is still quite acceptable at around 50 watts when idling with two disk drives and a CD/DVD drive. I could save a watt or two by unplugging the CD/DVD but it's hardly worth the effort.
Does the OS you use scale CPU frequency properly?
I recently tested a Dell Optiplex 755 with a discrete ATI video card 4GB of RAM DVD writer 2 HDs and a 2.8GHz Intel Quad core CPU at 50 watts, so for a simpler machine, I'd have hoped for rather less power use than that.
