At a guess you have postgres installed and PGDEBUG is not set to zero and POSTGRES_LOG isn't set in /etc/postgresql/postmaster.init
Thanks, Jonathon, this could well be it. It seems to have made the box go crazy, - all the consoles look like miniature galaxies and half the keyboard letters won't respond, meaning i can't log in, or shutdown cleanly. Will I have to crash out here? Bum. Jenny.
