I think OOo 3 is needed on Windows to open .docx but some distros compiled in the .docx support to 2.4 as well (I'm probably wrong).
There's a certain satisfaction being the only one in the office who can open .docx files, given that I'm the only one running a non-MS O/S and non-MS office software.
Yes, another thing to persuade my wife to move over to Linux, it was she wanted the .docx file opened.
