I have a CF card with two partitions - one ext2 and the other ext3. I want to create an image for the card but since it's about 1Gb in size, the image requires compressing before it can be ftp'd.
Is there a way to zero out any unused areas in the FS in order to optimise the compression?
Many thanks,
Stuart.
Hi and Hi to everyone as this is the first time I've posted here, I moved to Norfolk from London a year ago and am here to stay, I will try to make one of your second Tuesday meetings in Norwich sometime.
When it comes to imaging a disk I have used g4u, info here: http://www.feyrer.de/g4u/
and specific info on reducing the image size (part of his faq) can be found here: http://www.feyrer.de/g4u/#shrinkimg
Regards, Nick Atkins

Welcome to the list!
I *think* you mean Second Thursday, not Tuesday ;) Hopefully I won't bleed over the place at the next one (full details to be disclosed at some later date ;)

Are you sure you want to keep the ext2 and ext3 formats?,A .tar.gz of the files would be simpler.
