Hi all,
May 2nd this year marks the 10th year of alug! (well, of the kit meetings anyhow, it did exist as a mailing list before that for a while). Anyhow, in recognition of this who wants to have a kit meet? I'd like to arrange something for the weekend of the 2nd/3rd May and the precise day depending on who is available and wants to come along. As yet we have no planned venue either!
Anyhow, who is out there who wants to come along? Will a kit meet format be suitable? Is there something else we should do? Should we have some vintage Linux distros?
Thanks Adam

I'd certainly be up for that, especially on a weekend. The weekend of the 2nd/3rd of May is currently empty in my diary.
Regarding format: I'm not exactly a kit geek (owing to its intrinsic expense - as opposed to software's intrinsic freeness - and my intrinsic poverty) but I can bake and would be very happy to make a cake for ALUG.
And venue: I could make some enquiries at UEA. Though I'm not formally involved there anymore, I haven't had my masters conferred yet so I could possibly make some claim of eligibility.
Best, Richard
As a kit meet venue I always quite liked Syleham but that might be because it is in Suffolk and therefore a bit closer for me :) Not sure if it is still available to us.
But it does have plenty of space and a bar :)
No internet connection though from what I remember.

I can get the hall for us no problem so it is still available. I am very happy to host, in fact it would be an honour to do so. I was at the very first meeting and have enjoyed many since.
Syleham has loads of space and apart from one hiccup once (sorry Noodles) I always have access to the bar keys.
I expect I can rig up wireless net access to my adsl connection with a little tweaking and some Pringle tubes to focus the signal if required.
So over to ALUG members if you want this let me know.
Cheers, BJ
I have always very much enjoyed the Syleham meets, and would be very happy to enjoy another! Thanks for the proposal, BJ.
Ted.

Syleham is looking good, i'd say let us roll with it! We'd also be back in Suffolk as the same as the first meeting.

I'll get the hall booked for Sunday 3rd May. How do we want to do this, make it an afternoon evening thing or just the usual 2-6pm?
Cheers, BJ

I'd say the usual times, we can do beers at the 2nd Thursday meet in Norwich on the 14th to make up for any missing out :)

Ok normal times it is we can decide if there is to be any special events to mark the 10 yr milestone once it is booked.
