Hi, I'm a newbie here and on a steep learning curve to linux too :) but an old hat at IRC. would love a channel for local-ish linux chat :)
I'm on DALnet most of the day and if a chanel is started there I would be interested.
I'm on #hyper most of the time so If anyone needs help starting the channel up, give me a call

Would kinda be a good idea to run #alug on either beef.stu.uea.ac.uk or irc.uea.ac.uk/www.anglian.lug.org.uk. Thoughts, Mr Ray?
Andrew.

There is also a semi-active channel on irc.openprojects.net #linuxnewbie. Help can be obtained from #linuxhelp too.
Lots of good experts hang out in #linuxhelp on EFNet too. efnet.demon.co.uk is one server.
See y'all Sunday.
James.

I'd love to see it on beef.stu.uea.ac.uk (the server run by the SU, who also host this mailing list). Generally, the UEA people can be found in #pubfood, with #tech appearing when needed. We could easily make #alug or whatever on there as needed. It's only a small server, so you can do "/list -min 1" without flooding yourself.
If people think they might use it, I'll sit in #alug in future. We can bring a bot in if people want it.
Naturally, that system is also going to be upgraded in the near future too, but it should take less than an hour of service disruption.
