Hi Thanks Richard tried all of your suggestions, no success so filed in waste bin.I assume file must be corrupt in some way. Can anybody recommend a virus checker that works with Ubuntu, Looked at AVG but no Ubuntu version. Barry

How fortuitous that I just joined after this question. I recently put in some effort to get the open-source KlamAV up and running from packages under Kubuntu. I detailed the procedure at the FAQ here: http://klamav.sourceforge.net/klamavwiki/index.php/FAQ#How_do_I_install_from... Check the other FAQs for how to configure an email client for use with it. I have to say, that I have noticed some instability with it .. but, apart from the occasional crash, it generally works as expected. Hope that helps, Peter.
