Does anybody else have problems with receiving mail from dermot@higrade.botwritghts.farm?
I don't think I've ever received a mail from him. I use fetchmail to download mail from several places, which then delivers to my linux box. This works OK, except for sending domains that don't exist.
If the person who sent this could please FIX their email program so that it has their correct email address, it would be much appreciated.
Many Thanks Chris

That is the sender line for Dermot Musgrove. What is the point of a spam check that causes the spam to be transferred across your link three times? I disabled the domain existance check after thinking about that. It's a dialup machine running fetchmail, same as yours sounds to be. I think the problem is yours, too.
I guess it's a valid question, though: what should you set your hostname to if you're going to be using multiple ISPs?

I don't see it being too much of a problem. As my ISP will receive mail for glovercc.clara.co.uk and freeserve receives for glovercc.freeserve.co.uk I just set the hostname of my machine to be gateway.glovercc etc This seems to work, as there is a correct MX entry for the domain.

And for people who don't have an entire domain? (Yes, I know they're bundled by oodles of people, but some people are happy with their current ISP and won't want to move.)

Hm. My machine has the names "drmanhattan" and "kryogenix.yi.org", the second being dynamically assigned DNS.

Hi, it's not my 'email program' that is supplying the Sender: line but sendmail running on my box (higrade.botwrights.farm). Is it not possible to look at the From: line instead? I suppose that it is a Clara thing because I have never heard of this as a problem before - I get my own postings (using fetchmail on my local box) without trouble so what do you suggest that my hostname should be?
