Announce ALUG 2001.5
Point of order, it's 2001.6. I know 2001.5 isn't on the site, but that's Mr Freeman's fault, I think. Can you give us until tomorrow to get this web page online?
are there any I have missed?
uklinux.linuxnbsd on news.uklinux.net?
As those of you who have been to Syleham will know, it is an excellent venue for talks. Would someone like to suggest a theme for the meeting so that we can run 2 or 3 short 10 to 15 minute talks with questions? Other than that, the normal demos will take place.
John, how much is the venue hire this time? Is it more if the bar is opened, or do they need to take a certain amount?

Oh yeah forgot about the Martlesham meet sorry folks.

uklinux.general would seem more appropriate what do you think? uklinux.linuxnbsd seems a tad unpopulated.

Agreed it's a perfect venue for a talk can I suggest a short oration entitled "Why BJ has so much trouble installing Debian"! :-)

Cost should be the same between 10 and 20 quid, I can open the bar but I'd sooner get one of the other committee members to do it so I can mingle etc., if enough people are comming I can justify asking for some help otherwise I'll do it.
Cheers, BJ

I did promise to do a talk on the Debian package management systems apt and dselect, and the differences between stable, testing and unstable of Debian. I will also try and talk about the Debian policy of free and Non-free although most of it will be word for word from the Faq.
I will try and sort this out after the Linux Beer Wanderung, and there should be photos of the LBW also.
I think there may also be the chance to watch NetBSD getting (well attempting) installed on some old Vax kit! but this depends on other outside circumstances.
