As a general reminder: the Norwich evening socials are now held on the *second* thursday of the month at 8pm
Specific reminder: next evening meeting in Norwich is this thursday, 10th July at 8pm.
If you are coming please could you let myself or Mark know either by email or the list? Thanks. (And come anyway even if you don't let anyone know beforehand).
I've not been able to book a venue for it so I suggest that we meet in the Forum again (which a lot of people liked anyway). Plus it's free if not many people turn up to share the costs of a hall :-)
--------------------------------------------
I've put the subject line as 'social' meet to emphasise that these are really intended to be just that, a bit of chat and socialising, and not intended to replace the weekend meetings held across the region where people bring full kit, have installs etc. Does anyone really want to lug monitors etc around on a thursday evening? I did ask but there has not been much response yet to my queries :-)
And kudos to Keith who started the ball rolling...

Do many people actually turn up to these? I would imagine more may if locals knew about it. Not a criticism, but something that could be worked on.

Ah - tomorrow! I might be able to make that.

I shall see. My work often means getting back to Norwich around 6.15-7.30 so I may be otherwise engaged in food rumaging.

Stupid question I know, but I've been off the list for weeks -- I take it you mean the Forum that is the great glass dome next to City hall and not some other forum I wouldn't like to guess at heh.
Guess who'd be the only one waiting for a coffee otherwise...

I hope definitely to move towards that once it is better established. We've only just started them - this will be the third meeting. Also, at present at least, they have an informal chat format with the idea that local linux users can simply get to know each other so are probably not yet the best means of introducing people to linux (see other thread :-)
However that is something that I would also like to develop in time.

Not a silly question at all - I should have been more specific in the announcement. Yes, the Forum in central Norwich - there is a vey cheap carpark underneath it (1GBP for the evening). From the roundabout on the ring-road, turn into the city towards St Giles St then immediately fork right and the car park is on the right. All dirctions are on the alug web site AFAIK.
We meet in the coffee bar and should be there until at least 10pm so must come along whenever you've finished eating - hope to meet you there.

EEEK! I haven't been checking my home mail recently, I'd forgotted about thursdays again! I'll possibly manage to trundle along tommorow evening for a couple of pints :) In my usual style, my trainers should have just about fallen apart by then, the hair will be a mess, and I'll probably look a little tired :)
See all those that turn up there,
Brett.

Snap :-)
I'm a teacher - the soles are coming off both my shoes which are unrepairable so I had to ditch them, just had my hair cut off so I can forget about combing it and I sometimes need to stop the car and have a doze while driving home :-)
Great, look forward to seeing you tonight

Just spotted this one Syd, many thanks but I'm trying to keep the carb intake down at present :o)
Actually I think any kudos floating around should go in your direction as you the one doing all the hard work.
