Hi Just a request for some information about connecting a network type printer to a windows Xp desktop and a wireless Linux laptop. Thinking of purchasing a Samsung colour laser printer CLP300 that has a network connection on it. I wondered if if set it up in windows how difficult would it be to get my wireless laptop set up to send documents to the printer when the desktop is not in use. The printer states it has Linux driver support. I am using ubuntu 7.04. Any advice?

Try the pages or forums at www.linuxprinting.org. I think it should be possible to talk to its network address, even if you have to mess about with either CUPS or Samba.
Hope that helps,

I saw from the review at http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/97738/samsung-clp300.html shows that the printer only has a USB connection. Another site said it had optional network connectivity.
So 1) Without network card in the printer. Set up the USB to the XP machine and load the drivers, share the printer. Get the linux laptop setup on the network and use samba to print to the XP machine. This will only happen when the XP machine is switched on.
2) With a network card option in the printer. Set both to print to the IP address of the printer. Easier. No problem! No problem printing from both at once - the printer takes care of it. There *might* be a page of two out of order, but I'm sure you can handle that ;)
