It would be quite nice if a transcript were made available, or perhaps an excerpted transcript. I couldn't make it back because I was exceedingly delayed at work :(
It'll move when the new website appears, but for now it's at: http://www.cloaked.freeserve.co.uk/comp/alugirc1.html (& mirrors worldwide...)
"Ooh" as the initial thrill of IRC logs hits you... "Coo" as you see the early invasion of the TSW chatters... "Ahh" as I completely ignore Brett's suggestion of building the new website on alpha-release Java software called Cocoon-2... "Erk" as you release it's halfway through the session before useful stuff really starts happening.

I'll be coming, but as usual, I'm not sure I'll be transporting a machine out to the wilds of suffolk. I'll p-p-p-pick up a hub tomorrow and can give 3 lifts from Diss station if you email me off-list with times before Sat.

*swoon*
I'm so lucky. :)
I like the idea of Zope and Squishdot; Zope is on Aq's Enormous List Of Stuff To Look At, and Squishdot seems to be running technocrat quite well, and it's a lot neater than SLASH from what I can see. Python, Python, we love you. Guido for prime minister.

WRT the website, we:
* Need a server to host it on (not one of our UEA boxen as there's a bit of a crack-down going on at the moment about non-UEA accounts on them);
* Need CVS and/or ssh access to it, as there will be statics as well as slashdot-style stuff;
* Probably need to divide it into logical sections and get people to own each section, eg news, links, meetings.
* Should probably move mailing lists to it too (alug@stu makes less sense than something@anglian.lug, no?)
Of course, I'm +1 for writing all content in XML and sticking Cocoon on the front-end :-)
Anyway, just random musings. TTFN,
Andrew, errant webmaster.

Zope and Squishdot, you know it makes sense. :-)
Maybe I'm a bit dim here, but is there some kind of overall plan for all the stuff that's going onto the new version of the site?
Having said this, I probably oughtn't to get involved, since I'm moving to Birmingham in a couple of months. Note that you may all feel deeply smug, because the ALUG site is *useful* and the BrumLUG site is one single page with no information on it at all. I get to go and tell them that I know how a *decent* LUG does its stuff. ;-)
