Hi,
I have just been offered a Netgear DG834G ADSL Firewall Router,
Would I have any trouble with this and Suse 10.0
I have used these before - on SuSE 9.3 with no problem.

I've got one of these too, and even though I don't have SuSE (had too much other troubles with that... ;-) ), I can confirm that this device should work with any distro, and even any system that supports ethernet (via the twisted pair cable that is included), TCP/IP and HTTP on top of that, because configuration and administration is completely done with a web browser. Really designed as such things should be in my experience.
I've had to upgrade the firmware from 1.x to 2.x, as the 1.x version somehow froze outgoing ssh sessions with restrictive firewall rule settings.
Best regards, Jan

Weird - I ordered one of these yesterday, and will be using it with 2 SuSE 10.0 boxes at home. Word on the street is that it'll be fine and dandy, but I just thought I'd mention that if either of us has problems, we are not alone, heh :)
Cheers,
Ten

The Netgear DG834 (and G) actually runs Linux, you can enable a telnet server via the web admin interface and then telnet in and poke around. If you are really hardcore (like some of this lug, maybe they will say more on the subject) you will open up the router and add a serial interface to get access to the bootloader and then reflash the entire thing to add additional features.
Thanks Adam
