You can use tainted modules. I doubt anyone will take much notice of the taintedness of the current kernel, as there are still parts of the mainline kernel which taint it.
Is there a low traffic kernel list, that would provide important information like this?

doh. Excuse my stupidity. I assumed it hadnt loaded. I didnt even look at lsmod. Thanks for clearing this up.
